If you want the best chance at beating a cover, play as bass.

This helps for the first few covers but the last 15 or so have little effect.

Bass let me get 15 covers but most of the normals and all of the insanes don't seem to be any easier with any certain instrument.

I made your long song a little longer, to give some leeway at either end. A couple times I missed the third note, and then I had to finish the song or else lose fans by cancelling the gig, so this way there's room for some early missed notes and you can still get the medal.

For the 500 streak: Instead of using a 2 key combo to get the desired length, you can use a 1 key combo on Normal difficulty. It gets a bit fast, but it still beats having to use 2 keys.

I used this song on Normal mode - it's not perfect though - I still had to play it a lot of times because of all the damned lagg (otherwise I would have done it from the first attempt >_<):

P.S. I forgot to mention that you can probably add spaces between the samples, in order to make it slower. I didn't bother because the speed was OK for me.

Any chance of getting you to record video for the last 6 songs for Guitar 1 and post them online slowed down? Without being able to actually see what the patterns are supposed to be, there's no way I'm going to get through songs 25 or 27, and I'm not even trying 28-30 since I can't get the other 2; it would be a waste of my time.
